Service Opportunities

Part of every student’s tuition is dedicated to Service Projects undertaken by our class on behalf of underprivileged children in the areas where we work. During the first year of the GCP (2006), our students built a roof at a home for mentally and physically disabled children. Last year we helped build soccer fields at soccer camp for underprivileged kids. And this year we hope to help with the construction of a home for unwed mothers.

There’s a lot of talk these days about “giving back” —and not just among famous  athletes and rich celebrities. Ordinary Canadians are expected to assist those who do not enjoy our economic and political opportunities.

From a Biblical perspective, there are additional reasons to “give back”, as we believe every human being is made in the image of God. Therefore, when we give to the poor we are “lending to the Lord” (Prov. 19). This indeed makes giving more blessed than receiving. Serving those less-fortunate than ourselves helps keep our priorities straight, teaching us to value mercy and justice ahead of economic gain.
